Senior Virtual Village is a new program by the Filipino Community of Seattle (FCS) held at the Filipino Community Center. This program is focused on seniors (age 55 & older) to encourage them to live an active, healthy & independent life. Getting older and retirement do not equate to isolation, depression, and inactivity.
At the Filipino Community Center, we believe that being senior is time to enjoy life, have fun and learn new things. This is what we will focus on with our “Virtual Village”. There will be scheduled daily activities such as arts & craft, health & wellness with Zumba, Taiichi, or yoga sessions, nutrition classes, technology literacy such as learning how to use the computer, social media, Skype, etc., financial literacy, assistance in obtaining US citizenship, and advocacy for social justice.
By November 2020, with Beacon Development in the lead, we will begin receiving application from seniors to live in our new Filipino Community Village – an affordable housing for seniors. Occupancy will commence in the fall of 2021.
FCS is proud to have this program for our seniors. The Senior Virtual Village is sponsored by the King County Veterans, Seniors & Human Services Levy (VSHSL).
